Beauty is in the eye of the beholder – and when it comes to worldwide trends on what makes a woman hot, tastes vary from country to country.

Earlier this week, global research from Pornhub showed that Brits prefer boobs to bums. But what about plus-sized women?

Fashion and beauty editor Marie Southard Ospina wondered whether all countries felt the same way about the larger-sized lady.

In a post for Bustle the Colombian-American said: “There are certain repeated phrases thrown around at women of size quite consistently: ‘You have such a pretty face; if only you lost some weight.’ ‘You’re pretty for a big girl.’

“In countries like the US or the UK being fat is (although quite common) perceived as an inherently negative thing.”

To find out if that was the case across the globe, Marie paid 30 so-called experts around the world to ‘make her beautiful’ using Photoshop.

On the results, Marie told BuzzFeed: I mostly wanted to show that beauty is such an individual thing.

“And that no matter how often you hear that “thin is the only beautiful” ideology, it’s just not the only one out there.

“I think striving to achieve a sense of self love and self worth are far better aspirational goals than trying to achieve a certain weight. But that’s just me.”
