An excerpt reads, “Exposure to highly sexualized television programs has been correlated with emerging adults’ sexual attitudes and behaviors.”
The study found that this was exceptionally true for adults age 18 to 20 and even effected 20 to 23 year olds (although to a lesser effect). The study also found that “viewers of Jersey Shore were likely to see 23 instances of sexual talk and 25 instances of sexual behavior in an average episode. Put another way, viewers were exposed to an average of one sexual instance every minute that they were tuned into Jersey Shore,” the authors wrote. Impressive!
