More than 81,000 people have signed a petition to have Kanye West cut from the bill at Glastonbury festival.
The rapper was announced as a headline act for the June event but immediately divided opinion.
A Change.org petition, which was started in the UK, describes the father-of-one as an “insult to music fans all over the world.”
It continues: “We spend hundreds of pounds to attend glasto, and by doing so, expect a certain level of entertainment.
“Kanye has been very outspoken on his views on music….he should listen to his own advice and pass his headline slot on to someone deserving!
“Lets prevent this musical injustice now!”
Last week the Internet nearly exploded when it was revealed Kanye would be topping the bill on the Pyramid Stage.
Roughly 150,000 tickets were snapped up after music fans paid deposits in advance before finding out who would be performing at Worthy Farm in Somerset.
A post on the official Glastonbury Facebook page last night read: “We’re very excited to announce that Kanye West will headline the Saturday night at Glastonbury 2015” and it’s already had more than 10,000 comments.
One fan wrote: “Been going 20 years and actually thinking of blowing it this year,” while another said: “Fred West would have been a more popular choice.”
A third added on the site: “Are you actually mental? Hope your security is good because he’s gonna get bottled off the stage.”
Some festival-goers even hit out at organiser Michael Eavis, with one posting: “Very very disappointed that Michael Eavis would let this happen! Is this a publicity stunt?!!?! Heartbroken!”
They added: “It’s never really the headliners who make Glasto for me, but COME ON!!!!!! Have some respect. Glastonbury is supposed to be about music and loveliness and that tool is neither of those things!”
Kanye will headline the main stage on the Saturday night for his first performance at the festival and also tweeted his excitement last night.
He wrote: “EXCITED TO ANNOUNCE IM HEADLINING PYRAMID STAGE @GLASTOFEST THIS YEAR”
The star will join the likes of The Foo Fighters who have also revealed they are headlining this year’s festival on the Friday evening.
Although there are those who are seriously annoyed the Bound 2 rapper is playing the event at all, others are already hyped up by the announcement.
One fan tweeted the star saying: “So beyond excited that Kanye West is headlining Glastonbury that I can barley contain myself.”
Well, at least somebody is pleased.
