North West Throws a Fit Front Row at Dad Kanye’s NYFW Show
Anna Wintour’s face said it all.
Perched and poised at New York Fashion Week, the editor of US Vogue looked distinctly unimpressed after Kim Kardashian’s toddler daughter North threw a front row tantrum.
In a snap shared on Twitter, Anna appears to be inching away as little Nori started bawling, her lips pursed, arms neatly crossed and with eyes shielded behind a pair of shades.
(There, there: Kim Kardashian tried to comfort her daughter North West as Anna Wintour sat beside her at Kanye West’s show at NYFW; also there were (from left) Puff Daddy, Jay Z, Beyonce and Hailey Baldwin)
(Before the tears: Wintour looked a little happier earlier on in proceedings as she smiled for the cameras with Kim, Kanye and their daughter)
(The terrible (nearly) twos: North let loose in the arms of her mother, as Wintour and Beyonce tried to keep their eyes off the tot)
Elle magazine’s Anne Slowey was heard muttering, ‘Couldn’t they leave it backstage?’ according to The New York Daily News.
‘Typical celebrity crap. Like I really even care,’ the publishing icon allegedly was overheard saying.
(Helping hand: Kim attended to her little girl as an audience member behind her took photos)
I’ve had enough! It wasn’t long before North was letting her mother know she was not happy
(Heading out: Kim carried her 18-month-old out of the show as Beyonce looked on in amusement)
MailOnline reached out to Anne for comment.
North was later seen leaving the show in the arms of her doting mother, still having a bit of a tantrum and proving she’s clearly not a fan of fashion shows just yet.
Meanwhile, Wintour is known as one of the most formidable forces in the fashion publishing industry and, famed for her frosty persona, she was the inspiration for her former assistant Lauren Weisberger’s book (and subsequent movie) The Devil Wears Prada.
The US Vogue editor-in-chief has a reputation for being fierce and unforgiving in the workplace, and her opinions in the fashion industry matter more than any other.
(Time to go home? After her tearful display at the fashion show, Kim carried her daughter North out of the venue)
(Protective: Kim cradled her toddler and held her face to placate her as they left)
(In happier times: Before the show, the sweet tot looked in a much better mood)
(Cuddles: Nori looked sweet as she hugged her parent while Anna Wintour looked on)
(Trendy tot: The daughter of Kanye and Kim showed off her own style credentials and chic little hair-do as she meandered around the seats with a huge smile on her face)
The English-born journalist, however, previously claimed that she isn’t as harsh as she is made out to seem.
Speaking in 2011, at the time revealing Vogue fly-on-the-wall docu-film The September Issue was released, she said:
‘I assure you all the people that work with me on a day-to-day basis don’t think that [I’m intimidating]. That’s just something that’s been fabricated by the media.
‘And as you well know once something is out there, particularly in today’s world, it just gets exaggerated. I keep my head down and do the job to the best of my ability.’
However, the film – which followed the making of the annual and highly important September issue -showed Anna to be a hardworking yet ruthless editor, even going so far as to tell designer Miuccia Prada to change the fabric in her collection.
It also showed several steely altercations with creative director Grace Coddington, highlighting their tense working relationship.
(Intimate chat: Wintour listened intently as Kanye spoke his mind)
(Focused: The designer looked focused as he chatted to the famously formidable Wintour, while Kim looked on from behind the editor)
(Just two girls talking fashion: The famous editor and the E! star looked to be having a fun discussion)
So the world was duly stunned when, last year, she chose to put Kim Kardashian on the front cover of the fashion tome after previously seeming wildly unimpressed with her.
It was the reality star’s first US Vogue cover; the mother-of-one appeared alongside Kanye under the headline, #worldsmosttalkedaboutcouple.
It provoked a mixed reaction, with some critics questioning why Wintour would put a reality star on the front of the prestigious fashion bible.
Afterwards, the 65-year-old justified her decision, but in a seemingly backhanded way which some took to mean she was suggesting Kim wasn’t ‘tasteful’.
(Heading to the show: Kim and Nori, who was carrying an Adidas sneaker in hand, arrived at the event)
(Come to mama! North had a blast playing with her mom at the show)
(Play time! Ahead of the show, the little girl looked in great spirits as she ran through the aisles of seats)
(Is this where we sit? North and her doting mother chilled out before the show)
(She was dressed by her husband: The clothes were designed by Mr West and she seemed to be proud of that)
