The Mirror UK reports, “A heartbroken mum-to-be discovered she was pregnant with a ‘miracle baby’ by  her boyfriend – two days after he died in a car crash.

Lizzy Phillipson, 26, and Grant Benson, 21, were unsure they could ever have  a child after pre-cancerous cells were discovered in her cervix.

She started treatment for the condition, further complicated by an infection  and she was still being treated when Grant tragically died in August.

Just 48 hours later, she discovered that she was carrying his baby, against  overwhelming odds.

Lizzy and her mum Helen Kipling decided to keep the news secret until after  Grant’s funeral.

Two weeks later, she handed Grant’s mum Deborah Benson an envelope containing  a scan picture of his unborn child.

“Losing Grant so suddenly was devastating,” said Lizzy. “I felt as though he  had been snatched away and I didn’t get a chance to say any kind of goodbye.

“We had been together for six months and had become very close, very  quickly.

“When we’d had a couple of drinks, we’d talk about babies and Grant said we’d  have beautiful children together.

“I was still in shock after his death, I hadn’t properly taken it in at all,  when I discovered I was pregnant two days after the crash.

“I was late and it was my mum who pressed me to take a test, I think her  intuition told her I could be pregnant but when I discovered that I was it came  as a such a massive shock.

“I had never even considered it to be a possibility because we’d had very  little chance to be intimate because of the treatment I’d been having, it really  is a complete miracle, it should never have happened.

“But now he’s left a legacy that we’re all so grateful for. I know he’d have  been thrilled but he died without knowing he was going to be a father.””
