George Clooney Dubs Wife Amal “The Smart One”
Amal Clooney stepped out in New York on Thursday, just days after her husband George Clooney admitted that she’s definitely the one with the brains in their relationship.
The British human rights lawyer was without her man as she navigated her way through the snowy streets, in a tailored red buttoned-up coat.
She was helped into her cab by a security guard who also held an umbrella over her head as she went about her day in the snow-filled city.
On Monday, the Hollywood star had heaped praise on his beautiful wife as he attended a charity gig in the city.
He may have his fair share of the looks, but George can admit Amal has all the brains.
The actor was speaking at a charity gig in New York City on Monday when he fluffed his lines on stage.
While trying to recall how many countries the SeriousFun Children’s Network‘s had helped, he accidentally overestimated the number of countries there are in the world by a few hundred.
‘Since 1988, these camps have [helped] over a half million sick kids and their families from over five, from over 50, not just 500 countries… that would be too many,’ he trailed off, realising he’d just doubled the number of nations on the planet.
‘There aren’t that many… Are there 500 countries?’ he asked himself and the audience, before conceding: ‘My wife’s the smart one.’
Earlier in the night, George told Extra why Amal hadn’t accompanied him at the event.
(That’s not Amal! George Clooney was accompanied by funnyman Danny DeVito to the SeriousFun Children’s Network ‘s Gala at Lincoln Center in New York City on Monday)
‘She’s trying to get a guy out of prison in Egypt I think, so she’s working,’ he said. ‘She’s got her own, she’s got a lot of stuff to do.’
But he couldn’t help gushing over his new bride: ‘I’m very happy. It’s exciting,’ he said of married life.
‘I really love my wife, I’m having a great time and I’m very proud of her. I couldn’t be more proud of the things she does.’
Instead, the 53-year-old had to make do with his replacement date for the night: Danny DeVito.
‘Oh baby I do, I got George, yes I do, I got him and don’t tell nobody,’ the pint-sized actor sang when asked about his hot date. ‘They won’t tell nobody, they’re not gonna publicize the fact we’re on a date for crying out loud.’
In addition, Meryl Streep attended the star-studded soiree which honored the legacy of the late actor and SeriousFun founder Paul Newman.
George looked dapper in a two-piece black suit, white dress shirt and striped blue tie.
Shiny black dress shoes looked perfect for the fancy event.
