“Game launches a Christmas dinner in a can, aimed at gamers”

game-christmas-tinner - Copy“If you can’t tear yourself away from your Xbox One or PS4 this Christmas Day, then games store Game has the answer — a Christmas dinner in a can. And it looks as bad as it sounds.

The idea is you won’t have to cook anything, so you can carry on gaming uninterrupted. Though I assume you’d want to heat up the contents, rather than eat it cold.

The Christmas Tinner packs in all the munchies you’ll need this Crimbo. It’s designed to be eaten throughout the day. The top layer is scrambled egg and bacon, which you have for breakfast, then it’s on to two mince pies, before you get to Christmas dinner with all the trimmings. There’s turkey and potatoes, gravy, bread sauce, cranberry sauce, brussel sprouts with stuffing — or broccoli with stuffing, if you’re not a fan of sprouts — and roast carrots and parsnips. Then to finish, Christmas pudding.

Game has trialled the Christmas Tinner in its Basingstoke branch, and is considering a national rollout if demand is strong enough. If it does go on sale nationwide, it’ll cost £1.99.

According to Game, 43 per cent of gamers intend to spend the majority of Christmas Day playing with a new PS4 or Xbox One. “This Christmas is set to be an epic one for gaming, especially as households all over the UK wake up to a new PS4 or Xbox One console under the Christmas tree,” Game’s retail marketing director Alisa McKnight said in a statement.

“And for those who can’t wait to get stuck into their latest goodies, the Christmas Tinner is our gifting solution combining the best of both worlds: so gamers can feast on the latest releases and the finest foods at the same time.”

I’d question the “finest foods” bit. In my student days, I once ate a fry-up in a tin, and that was pretty rank.”

The perfect gift for your obsessed gamer?
